“You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.”
We are his ‘friend’ if we do what He commands…
Abortion is a violation of the Commandment ‘thou shalt not kill.’ It is the termination of unborn life, often in a cruel, horrendous manner. But abortion is only the spearhead of the devil’s weapon of eugenics, the capital city of ‘the culture of death.’ It all starts with the contraceptive mentality. The unwillingness to participate in God’s Creativity through the laws of procreation set down by God through nature. It continues through masturbation and pornography, hallowing the devil’s delight in adultery, pre-marital sex, and the big entertainment business of promiscuity. It’s tentacles reach through the family in unexpected pregnancies, contraception use, abortion, strife, and divorce. Philosophically, it is tied to the murder of helpless innocents otherwise known as euthanasia. And it is a cousin of other bioethical conundrums such as cloning.
Under the cover of clever semantics, liberals have renamed the eugenics movement in the clean, neat Pro-Choice moniker. To further muddy the dialogical waters the liberal has softened the crime of abortion in terms such as ‘women’s reproductive rights.’ Euthanasia is now ‘mercy killing,’ and contraception is packaged as sound parental responsibility.
None of this leads to friendship with Jesus Christ.
It’s not that Jesus doesn’t want to befriend the liberal, the progressive, the democrat, or whatever they want to be called. After all, Jesus is Divine Mercy Incarnate. Jesus came to be the Physician for all that ail from sin. Jesus’ Cross has led to baptism, which heals original sin, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession), which heals the sad reality of everyday sin.
But Jesus is ‘the way, the truth, and the life.’
Jesus’ Way, which is an open invitation to friendship, is the Way of the Cross in personal sacrifice for all whom we love, and all that is ‘good, true, and beautiful.’ Jesus’ Truth is that God is Love, God is Creator, and God is Redeemer. John 3:16 reminds that ‘God so Loved the world’ that he died for it. And us. But his Truth is, first and foremost, Life. Life as gift, and responsibility, and friendship in obedient discipleship which lives on faith, hope, and most of all, charity.
And, like I said before, Jesus is Life.
You can’t separate the Way and the Truth, from Life.
You can’t be Jesus’ friend just because you are a social warrior, determined to help the poor, the immigrant, setting all economic injustices aright in a politically correct, relativistic, progressive manner, while participating in the greatest social genocide in American history.
You cannot be Jesus’ friend and disrespect his Apostles teaching authority. You cannot be his friend and cafeteria pick which Commandments suite your tastes. You cannot espouse the ideologies and tenets of the world, those which are openly antithetical to both Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Theological Tradition and expect to be Jesus’ friend.
You cannot slap him, spit on him, beat him, mock him, falsely accuse him, publicly deny him, whip him, and Crucify him, and expect him to be your friend…
…unless, of course, you repent.
