Being a conservative doesn’t mean that you walk around quoting the Bible, unable to carry a normal conversation. Being a conservative doesn’t mean that you are a racist, xenophobe, or a bigot. Being a conservative doesn’t mean that you keep your wife barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. Being a conservative doesn’t meant that you don’t care about women’s rights. Being a conservative doesn’t mean that you belong to the ‘flat earth society’ and oppose scientific discovery. Being a conservative doesn’t mean that war is the end all, and be all, of foreign relations. Being a conservative doesn’t mean that you are homophobic, Islamophobic, or non-compassionate toward people of differing views. Being a conservative doesn’t mean that you have a gun in one hand, a bible in the other, and your boot on a minorities neck.
These are popular stereotypes that are socially reinforced to keep the conservative down.
Overcoming the obstacles, set on a daily basis, by pseudo-conservative Donald Trump, is a tough task for the true conservative. What makes matters worse is all the RINO Republicans, really moderate to liberal minded career politicians, all claiming to be conservative, muddying the clear water definition of a real conservative.
So let’s define what a real conservative is all about.
A real conservative is a principled person.
A real conservative takes the founding fathers to heart.
A real conservative, first and foremost, takes limited government seriously. The founding fathers put every Constitutional restraint in place so that dictators, totalitarians, and behemoth governmental agencies would not intrude on the liberty of the people. The government is supposed to serve and protect the people, not rule them. A real conservative desires to reign in most, if not all, of the government regulatory systems that destroy small business and individuals Constitutional rights. There is no racism, xenophobia, or bigotry in desiring to abolish the crooked EPA and IRS, and clean house in the DOJ, ICE, and the VA. There is no homophobia, Islamophobia or intolerance in wanting to utterly destroy Obamacare, thereby abolishing socialized medicine in a free country. Real conservatives, moreover, want to restore balance to the different branches of government. Executive orders, like those of Barack Obama, are not part of being a conservative President. Real conservatives want a cooperative balance between the Executive and Legislative branches, and desire that the Judicial Branch exercise its power through a literal interpretation of the Constitution, not overstepping its bounds, allowing the individual states to decide their fate without forced federal legislation for everyone–as witnessed in the gay ‘marriage’ ruling.
Speaking of the Constitution, real conservatives are all about protecting Constitutional rights at all costs. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms are among the most attacked Constitutional rights. Real conservatives place a supreme priority on protecting those rights.
Real conservatives are guided by Judeo-Christian values. Real conservatives are Pro-Life without compromise. Real conservatives desire to protect the true definition of marriage, solely between a man and a woman, and work for individual states to decide their own position on this controversial topic, resisting federal force for all states to comply. Real conservatives desire to follow the Catholic Social tenet of subsidiarity, whereby people are helped at the local level, minimizing the behemoth nanny entitlement scourge. Real conservatives appreciate, and nurture, our friendly relationship with the nation of Israel. Real conservatives build the military, not to be warmongers, but to be peace protectors. Real conservatives protect our borders, and prosecute illegal aliens, not out of prejudice, but to protect our citizens, and thereby reward legal immigrants with the justice of the citizenship they earned through doing the right thing. Real conservatives destroy Radical Islam while working as allies with Moslems who desire a peaceful world.
Real conservatives reject socialism, Sharia Law, and radical liberalism, knowing fully well that the Constitution, the free market, and Judeo-Christian morality and ethics are all that America needs to flourish.
This is what it means to be a conservative.
