We are tired, and we need a Shepherd

American Catholics are tired.

We are tired of the direction our beloved nation is going. We are tired of politicians using us to stay in power without delivering on their promises. We are tired of our Constitutional freedoms shrinking every day. We are tired of a main-stream-media which treats us as if we were stupid by lying to us on a consistent basis. We are tired of abortions in every state of our land, and all the empty rhetoric that is offered in hot air, while our brothers and sisters in Christ, unborn, continue to die.

We are tired of a stagnant economy, and the scary horizon of mounting national debt. We are tired of a President who wages war against the family, against traditional marriage, against Life, and against 1st and 2nd amendment rights. We are tired of a United Nations which seeks to further impede the rights of American citizens with the aid of our President. We are tired of a contraceptive society, where promiscuity is a household reality through the mediums of television and the Internet.

We are tired of the radical secularization, and ardent rejection of Traditional Catholicism, which has overtaken our children’s educational system. We are tired of ‘climate change’ propaganda which only makes our lives more costly and our income smaller. We are tired of illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, and the total disregard of visitors to our great country who refuse to assimilate; rather, choosing to become radicalized by the progressive movement. We are tired of artificially created racial division.

We are tired of political correctness.

We are tired of cafeteria Catholics who cheer the Pope when he condemns the death penalty, but openly support abortion and ‘gay’ marriage. We are tired of people, especially Catholics of other nations, who can’t understand when we exercise our free speech, and our free will, not to mention our God given intellect, in criticizing the Pope for his fallible human beliefs on ‘climate change,’ and his South American ‘take’ on immigration.

We are tired, and we need a Shepherd.

Barack Obama has had the ‘audacity’ to try and be our Shepherd, but the wolf can never be the Shepherd. Pope Francis has been ordained to be our Shepherd, and we offer him ‘the obedience of faith’ when he is speaking on faith and morals from his official position as successor of Peter, and Vicar of Christ. Yet, as Americans, with the privileged position given us by God (and this may sound arrogant, but so be it), we are the bearers of the greatest civilization in the world. Yes, we sin. Yes, we must repent. But, yes, we are the greatest nation in the world, responsible to protect liberty and justice abroad.

And any Shepherd worth his weight in gold, cleric or politician, would recognize this. Yes, Pope Francis bears the Truth Infinitely greater than the American experiment. When the Pope speaks on faith and morals American Catholics get on bended knee in obedience to his Lord, and ours, Jesus Christ. But when the Pope speaks on purely human topics from the opinion of Jorge Bergoglio, American Catholics can teach him a thing or two.

God bless!

I am a graduate of Ave Maria University--the Institute for Pastoral Theology (IPT), with a Master of Theological Studies degree (MTS). I love Theology. I love the Church. I love the Sacraments, particularly the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the Most Blessed Sacrament--the Eucharist. I love them most because they bring me closer to the Mercy of Jesus. I also love His Truth...found in His Church's Teaching and in Sacred Scripture. I hope to share this Treasure Chest of Wisdom, and learn from the people of God I encounter in this blog. For in each of us is the Holy Spirit of God, and each of us brings Jesus to each other in our shared faith, hope, and charity.
