If you consider how the world offers exotic vacations, and beautiful retirement villages, at a very high price, while excluding those who cannot afford these luxuries, you would expect supreme ‘Wisdom’ to do the same.
But you would be proven wrong.
For in the world, the more powerful people become, and the more wealth they accumulate, the more they tend to isolate themselves from the common person, and the more exclusive their company becomes.
But with Divine Wisdom a beautiful opposition emerges.
1)”Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven pillars. 2)She has slaughtered her beasts, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table. 3)She has sent out her maids to call from the highest places in the town, 4)’Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!’ To him who is without sense she says, 5)’Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. 6)Leave simpleness, and live, and walk in the way of insight.'” Proverbs 9:1-6
Imagine Bill Gates starting a Pro-Life foundation for Christians. Imagine Donald Trump opening his Plaza in downtown Manhattan, New York, to a band of addicts, prostitutes, illegal immigrants, and ex-cons. Imagine Hillary Clinton opening her doors and welcoming in a traveling all male, Republican-conservative convention. Imagine the headquarters of Isis opening up medical facilities for sick and wounded Christians in the Middle East.
‘Don’t hold your breath’ you say!
But beautiful Lady Wisdom does this every day.
Every day the richest Woman in the world opens her doors to the most sublime banquet offering ‘the Bread from Heaven’ and the wine of ‘the New Covenant.’ And what is divinely absurd, divinely paradoxical, divinely beautiful about this is the people She invites.
You and I, the common sinner, a ‘wretch like me.’
Wisdom calls from the ‘city heights’ for fools, ingrates, sneaks, liars, adulterers, cheats, phonies, thieves, prostitutes, ex-cons, addicts, thugs, snobs, know-it-alls, and obnoxious bores, to come to Her Beautiful Palace and dine with Her in Her infinite compassion and Mercy.
Yet it does come with a price…and a priceless reward.
‘Leave your folly and you will live, walk in the ways of perception.’ Verse 6
Imagine, the most powerful force in the Universe, God’s Wisdom, inviting us to share a meal, inviting us to meet His Beautiful Bride, Lady Wisdom, offering us, freely, to choose for a better life.
Never, anywhere else in this world, will we meet such Love.
